John Paul Hayward
John Paul Hayward has his works regularly performed by various orchestras and choirs around the United States, including the Utah Chamber Artists, who he continues to have a working relationship with today. He has written, produced, and recorded four studio albums ranging from large choral/orchestral works to small ensemble and solo string collections. John Paul has scored several short films, commercials, and provided auxiliary music and recordings for various video game soundtracks. In 2019 John Paul had the pleasure of working closely with Rire-Woodbury Dance company, Flying Bobcat productions, and The Red Fred Project to create an original soundtrack for a staged production of "The Live Creature and Ethereal Things" which featured original music covering a variety of styles, genera, and ensembles. While his passion for film and video game soundtracks can readily be heard in his compositions and arrangements, his music is often credited as being "romantically dramatic" in style, while retaining a strong air of sophistication.
John Paul began exploring composition in his elementary years as a way to avoid practicing the piano. It wasn't until John Paul began his study of music theory in high school that he began to take composing seriously alongside his ongoing piano, cello and vocal lessons. Upon graduating high school, he continued his study of music at the University of Utah where he studied vocal performance with Dr. David Power and private composition and orchestration with Dr. Barlow Bradford, graduating with a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in vocal performance. He continues to perform with The Utah Chamber Artists alongside a busy recording and composing schedule.
John Paul owns and operates Hayward Publishing which offers professional recording, remote studio musician contracting, and printing services to other producers, composers, and musicians around the world.
